Precision Sharpening for Every Trade

We don’t just “grind” teeth; we match the specific grind geometry required for your specific application.

  • Framing & Construction Blades: Fast, aggressive cutting for 2x4s and pressure-treated lumber.
  • Fine Finish & Plywood Blades: High-tooth-count sharpening to eliminate splintering on delicate veneers.
  • Non-Ferrous Metal Blades: Specialized angles for cutting aluminum and brass.
  • Dado Sets: Precision-matched sharpening to ensure your grooves are flat and consistent.

The Science of the Sharp: Our Process

We use specialized CNC-controlled grinding equipment to ensure every tooth is identical.

  1. Sonic Cleaning: We remove all pitch, resin, and “caked-on” wood sap that causes friction and heat.
  2. Inspection: We check for cracked gullets and missing carbide tips.
  3. Face & Top Grinding: We sharpen both the face and the top of the carbide tip to ensure the correct Hook Angleand Top Bevel.
  4. Tip Replacement: If you’ve hit a nail and lost a tooth, we can often braze on a new carbide tip, saving you the cost of a new blade.

Circular Saw Blade FAQ

Is it worth sharpening a cheap “disposable” blade? For standard $15 construction blades, the cost of sharpening is often close to the cost of replacement. However, for professional-grade blades (DeWalt, Diablo, Forrest), sharpening costs a fraction of a new blade and can be done 5-10 times.

How do I know my blade is dull? If you see smoke, smell burning wood, or have to “force” the saw through the cut, your blade is dull. Another sign is increased “tear-out” on the backside of your lumber.

Do you sharpen carbide-tipped blades? Yes. Carbide is extremely hard and requires specialized diamond-impregnated grinding wheels. We are one of the few shops in the Scranton area with the equipment to handle industrial carbide.
